Mixed media fiber artist Nanette S. Zeller is our featured artist in May. Nanette has a passion for working with textiles. Her style has evolved through a life-long culmination of creative adventure and exploration depicted in a color palette deeply influenced by her love for and study of nature. Nanette pushes the limits from traditional quilting with art quilts using mixed media techniques. Her work incorporates detail and depth through the use of threadwork, paints, beads, found objects and wool.

Nanette's creative drive was encouraged by her mother who taught her to crochet, sew and to otherwise express herself artistically.  Following formal training as a wildlife biologist, she began developing her quilting skills in 2001 and, in 2008, discovered her passion for art quilts.  Nanette's love of fiber art is also expressed through writing, teaching and working as a technical editor of quilting books.

Nanette's works will be on display at Eye Candy Gallery from May 3 through May 24..  The gallery will host an opening reception on Friday, May 3 from 6-9 pm and Nanette will be on hand to welcome visitors and answer questions about her art.
